There is so much to do in Kenmare and its surrounds that I can only give a snapshot of activities, let’s just say that all ages and tastes are amply catered for in this bustling yet laidback town.

Kenmare is a beautiful idyllic heritage   town nestled in the hills and valleys on the fabled Ring of Kerry and hugs the shoreline of tranquil Kenmare bay.  Its many lovely shops, gourmet restaurants and unique pubs with plenty of live music make Kenmare a popular stop for tourists young and old and adventure seekers.  It is also a fabulous base in which to explore the enchanting south west of Ireland.

There is much to do here including hillwalking/trekking, horse riding, salmon and trout fishing all  in the gorgeous landscape of this area, golfing, kayaking in the bay , boat trips, scuba diving  or even some paintballing! Or perhaps water-skiing, sailing or a banana boat ride. For the less adventurous there are many little art galleries and bespoke shops and dining options. Or what about afternoon tea in the nearby Sheen Falls hotel? The beautiful lesser explored GlenInchiquin Park is a must for nature lovers and those looking for a place of tranquillity with its inspirational scenery, glens, waterfalls and mountain passes. Ideal on a private chauffeur tour of Ireland.

So if you want something a little more relaxed than the sometimes hectic Killarney town that’s very accessible to both hills and the sea yet in a good sized town then get yourself to Kenmare!
